EC&I Technician

About ICL Teesdock

Join ICL at Teesdock, a key operation within a global leader in minerals and speciality chemicals. Here, you’ll support large-scale industrial and port-based activities, combining complex bulk handling, ship loading operations, and automated plant systems in a dynamic, safety-critical environment. As part of a close-knit, highly skilled engineering team, you’ll tackle varied, technically challenging equipment while contributing to the safe and efficient movement of materials for industries worldwide.

About the Role

Join a high-performing engineering team, supporting complex, heavy industrial operations at Teesdock. Your role involves working with large-scale automated systems, PLC-controlled equipment, and bulk handling machinery within a fast-paced port setting.

This position allows you to play a central role in maintaining and improving critical plant performance, ensuring safe and efficient operations across the site.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carry out detailed statutory inspections and produce compliant reports, aligning with current legislation, site standards, and engineering best practices to ensure all electrical and control systems meet regulatory requirements.
  • Take responsibility for conducting, verifying, and documenting complex electrical isolations within a permit-to-work system.
  • Inspect, fault-find, maintain, and repair a wide range of heavy industrial equipment, including ship loading systems, handling equipment, conveyor networks, and associated switchgear.
  • Utilise methodologies such as root cause analysis (RCA) and mean time between failure (MTBF) to investigate recurring faults, implement long-term solutions, and improve plant reliability.
  • Plan and prioritise maintenance activities based on shift reports, plant condition, and operational requirements, ensuring efficient and safe work execution.
  • Collaborate closely with operations and engineering teams to minimise downtime, providing clear, timely feedback on equipment condition, emerging issues, and completed work.
  • Respond independently to breakdowns and plant issues under pressure.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in equipment performance, safety, and working practices.
  • Manage parts, consumables, and tooling responsibly, ensuring efficient resource use.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
