Are you an ECM lawyer considering a move?

After a challenging period for primary equity issuance, confidence is returning to London's Equity Capital Markets. Key UK ECM legal and regulatory developments from the last three quarters are beginning to take effect as we head into the second half of the year, and as such firms are gearing up for what is anticipated to be a comeback in UK Capital Markets and IPO activity.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We're interested in speaking with ECM lawyers from top UK practices who have broad experience across IPOs, secondary fundraisings, and cross-border equity transactions. As the market gears up for renewed activity, this is an exceptional moment to move into a platform that is actively investing in its capital markets practice and poised to capitalise on the expected rebound. If you're a (UK or US qualified lawyer) and are considering a move ahead of the next growth cycle, we would welcome a confidential conversation.
