An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Ecologist to join a respected, independent ecological consultancy based in Brighton. Working with a third-party recruiter, we are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Ecologist to become part of a friendly, knowledgeable team delivering high-quality ecological services across the South East. The consultancy is known for its collaborative approach, technical expertise, and commitment to providing bespoke ecological solutions for a diverse range of development and conservation projects.
As an Assistant Ecologist, you will:
- Support a variety of ecological surveys
- Assist with protected species work
- Contribute to technical reports, habitat assessments, and biodiversity projects
- Develop your skills under the guidance of experienced ecologists

Requirements
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related subject
- Student member of CIEEM or willingness to work towards membership
- Graduate or candidates with one or more survey seasons experience considered
- Experience of ecological surveys or volunteering, with QGIS knowledge desirable
- Full UK driving licence
- Full right to work in the UK
- Must live in or within a reasonable commuting distance of the Brighton office
- Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for developing a career in ecology
