Who Are We?

At Lucion, we're in the business of making the world a safer, healthier and more sustainable place. Big ambition? Absolutely. But we're getting there one project, one habitat and one clever solution at a time.

Our name comes from Luc (to illuminate) and ion (to take action), which pretty much sums up what we do. We shine a light on environmental challenges, then get stuck in to solve them.

Whether it's helping clients manage environmental risks, protecting wildlife, or making sure development happens responsibly, we're here to make a positive difference. We work across 12 key sectors, combining science, expertise and a healthy dose of curiosity to help people and the planet thrive.

And because we believe actions speak louder than words, we're proud to hold ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 accreditations. We like doing things properly.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What's It Like to Work Here?

Imagine a team where muddy boots, brilliant ideas and plenty of laughter all have a place.

Our values—Integrity, Innovation, Sustainability, Trust and Commitment—shape how we work every day, but they're not just buzzwords. They're reflected in the way we support each other, tackle challenges and celebrate success (tea and biscuits may occasionally be involved).

We're a team of ecologists, scientists, consultants and problem-solvers who care deeply about what we do. Everyone's encouraged to ask questions, share ideas and keep learning because the best solutions usually come from curious people.

The Role

If spotting orchids makes your day, you know your habitats from your hedgerows, or you're happiest with a survey kit in one hand and a notebook in the other, you might be exactly who we're looking for.

We're looking for an enthusiastic Ecologist to join our growing Ecology Team. You'll work alongside experienced colleagues on a wide variety of projects across England, carrying out habitat and protected species surveys, supporting ecological assessments and helping deliver practical solutions that balance development with nature.

No two days are quite the same. One week you could be mapping habitats in the countryside, the next helping produce reports that shape major development projects. If variety keeps you motivated, you'll fit right in.
