BAO is a globally award-winning Shopify Plus eCommerce agency based in the UK. We’re a senior team of designers, developers, and marketers that are committed to exceptional standards in eCommerce. We work explicitly with Shopify Plus merchants—generally in the fashion, cosmetics, and luxury goods sectors—for brands all over the world in competitive global markets.

Job Title: Account Strategist
Job Summary
An Account Strategist is the day-to-day client account owner responsible for ensuring that agreed growth tasks are delivered on time, meeting exacting specifications to fulfil client or merchant briefs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning a portfolio of BAO’s retained Strategic Programme merchants and building strong, value-based relationships with key stakeholders.
- Collaborating with the roadmap creator (Strategic Director / Head of Merchant Strategy) to:
- Help formulate ideas and understand task requirements.
- Liaise with the internal BAO team to scope, progress, and deliver final outcomes.

The Account Strategist plays a crucial role in this expanding team, supporting the smooth operation of the Strategic team by managing the execution of bespoke roadmaps.
Key Accountabilities
- Managing feedback loops with clients and securing solutions to ensure the optimal outcome.
- Allocating agency resources effectively based on details within merchan’s growth roadmaps.
About You
Skills & Experience
We’re looking for a candidate whose expertise aligns with our projects:
Essential Criteria
- Technical eCommerce experience:
- Hands-on experience with an eCommerce platform (Shopify, Magento, BigCommerce).
- Minimum 2 years of active experience in eCommerce (in-house or agency-based roles).
- Generalised technical expertise with a problem-solving attitude.
- Strong communication skills to build and nurture client relationships.
- Highly organised, capable of multitasking, and managing concurrent requests from multiple clients.
Previous Roles (Examples)
- eCommerce Manager
- eCommerce Executive
- Project Manager
- Digital Account Manager
Bonus Points
- Experience working directly with Shopify / Shopify Plus platforms and eco-system partners.
- Understanding of analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and translating data into actionable insights.
- Experience with managing development roadmaps and end-to-end strategic execution.
