Role: Ecommerce Trading Manager

Location: Steyning, West Sussex

Hours: Full-time

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Ecommerce Trading Manager to take ownership of website trading, onsite merchandising and digital performance for a fast-growing, performance-led cycling brand. You will help shape how customers discover, choose and buy our products online, using data, insight and commercial instinct to improve revenue, conversion, average order value and customer retention across our global ecommerce markets.

Working closely with the Ecommerce Director, Development Manager, internal teams and external agency partners, you will have the support to develop your expertise while making a visible impact on trading performance, campaign delivery and customer experience.

The Rider Firm is a direct-to-consumer business best known for Hunt Bike Wheels. From our headquarters in West Sussex, with operations in the USA and Germany, we design and sell high-performance, after-market bicycle wheels to riders around the world. We take an engineering-first approach, creating innovative products for passionate cyclists across road, gravel, mountain and adventure riding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day website trading and performance, using clear commercial actions to drive revenue, conversion and average order value.
  • Lead onsite merchandising across the homepage, product listing pages and product detail pages, ensuring customers can easily find the right products and understand their benefits.
  • Plan and deliver the ecommerce trading calendar, coordinating product launches, campaigns and promotions with internal teams to ensure activity lands on time and to a high standard.
  • Work with external agencies to manage paid search and affiliate performance, setting targets, monitoring return on investment and identifying opportunities to test, improve and scale activity.
  • Support the CRM Executive with email and SMS activity, helping to develop segmentation, targeting and retention strategies that increase engagement, repeat purchase and customer lifetime value.
  • Identify customer journey and conversion rate optimisation opportunities, helping to improve user experience, reduce friction and support the testing roadmap.
  • Frequent monitoring of Ecommerce performance, produce regular trading updates with clear insights and actions.
  • Working closely with Marketing, Commercial and Product teams on campaigns, traffic channels, product launches, stock availability and priorities.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in ecommerce trading, digital marketing or online retail, ideally within a direct-to-consumer environment.
  • A commercially curious mindset, with the appetite to take on broader ownership and keep developing as an Ecommerce manager.
  • A data-led approach, with the ability to turn performance insight into practical trading actions.
  • An understanding of search, email marketing, onsite optimisation and customer retention activity.
  • Confidence using ecommerce and digital tools such as Shopify, Klaviyo, GA4, Google tools and social media platforms.
  • A passion for cycling, performance products or active lifestyle sectors would be a strong advantage, along with the drive to innovate, compete and keep improving.
