Job Description
What will you be doing?
S&W is launching a new Economic Advisory team, delivering high-quality advisory and expert services to corporates, regulators, government bodies and legal advisers. We’re looking for a Director to play a pivotal role in building and leading this offering.
The role provides exposure to a broad range of clients, sectors, and types of work, and will particularly suit someone who enjoys varied projects and the collaborative, dynamic nature of working within a growing team.
As Director, your responsibilities will include among others:
- Lead and deliver economic advisory engagements end-to-end
- Build trusted relationships with senior clients and stakeholders
- Drive business development and grow a strong client portfolio
- Provide technical leadership across competition, regulatory or applied economics
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team
- Contribute to shaping the strategy and culture of a new consulting practice

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Proven experience in economic advisory, competition economics, regulatory economics, public policy economics or applied microeconomics, gained within a leading professional services firm, specialist economics consultancy, regulator, government body, or regulated industry.
- Strong track record delivering advice on complex, high-stakes issues
- Deep technical expertise in one or more core economic consulting disciplines, including:
- Competition economics (e.g. mergers, market investigations, antitrust conduct, digital and platform markets)
- Regulatory economics (e.g. price controls, market design, regulatory frameworks, incentives)
- Economic valuation and financial economics
- Econometrics, quantitative modelling and data-driven analysis
- Established client relationships and business development capability
- Strong experience advising clients within one or more relevant sectors, such as; Financial Services, Infrastructure, Power & Utilities, Transport, Digital or Technology, or other regulated or network industries.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Experience leading teams and managing large, multi-stream projects
- Experience acting as an expert in disputes or regulatory proceedings is desirable
