Economic Crime Project Manager – 6-Month Secondment/Fixed Term Contract

Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow


Purpose of the Role

To support the Risk Function in delivering its objectives regarding safeguarding the bank’s financial and operational stability, through proactively:

  • Identifying
  • Assessing
  • Mitigating
  • Monitoring risks across various business units and activities.

Accountabilities

The Vice President level role is responsible for:

  • Strategic Direction & Governance

    • Development of strategic direction for risk, including implementation of up-to-date methodologies and processes.
    • Management of the risk department, including:
      • Oversight of risk colleagues and performance
      • Implementation of risk priorities and objectives
      • Ensuring department efficiency and effectiveness
  • Stakeholder & Policy Adherence

    • Relationship management with:
      • Relevant internal/external stakeholders
      • External third-party service providers, maintaining high service quality
    • Adherence to risk policy, standards, and frameworks while maintaining a robust control environment.

The Role: Economic Crime Project Manager

Project Overview

  • Type: 6-month secondment/fixed term contract (within Tesco Bank).

  • Objective: Shape the future of banking by guiding customer due diligence (KYC) reviews and managing remediation.

  • Core Purpose: Execute a portfolio of regulatory/compliance-driven tasks, maintaining robustness in:

    • Regulatory obligations
    • Stakeholder coordination
    • Risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management Support
    • Track progress, follow up with stakeholders.
    • Ensure completeness on key actions.
    • Protect control environments via documentation review and compromise monitoring.

    • Proven track record in leading/managing remediation initiatives within KYC, AML, CDD, or regulatory compliance domains.

    • Articulate permeability overall stakeholders, at all business levels.
    • Excellent organisational acumen; juggle conflicting priorities effectively while proposing precision within deadlines.

    • Substantial AML/KYC leadership and subject-matter expertise with:
      • In-depth regulatory compliance understanding.
      • Experienced working within risk & controls frameworks.
