Economics Associate / Director - Manchester

Manchester Economics Associate/Director – Full Time, Permanent

Are you ready to ignite your career and make a real impact? We are looking to recruit an Economics Associate or Director in our vibrant Manchester office and become part of a passionate team driving change across the UK. Recent Projects:

  • Soapworks, Salford – Developing a social value action plan for a mixed-used neighbourhood in Greater Manchester
  • Kirklees Cultural Heart – Writing the socio-economic ES (Environmental Statement) chapter and health impact assessment for Huddersfield town centre regeneration
  • Wisbech Gateway – Undertaking economic benefits analysis for a commercial/industrial gateway development in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire

About the Role

We are seeking a talented individual with the expertise to manage complex economic development projects, delivering key outputs such as:

  • Economic input for planning statements, local plan representations
  • Economic benefit reports, health impact assessments, equality impact assessments
  • Socio-economic chapters and social impact analysis for various schemes

You will:

  • Lead project delivery, presenting robust economic analysis to colleagues, clients, and at industry events
  • Work across residential regeneration, retail, commercial, leisure, and town expansion sectors
  • Contribute to forward-thinking economic strategies shaping sustainable urban development

Experience & Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • 7+ years (for Associate role)
  • 10+ years (for Director role)
  • Degree in economics, human geography, or a related discipline
  • Strong understanding of:
    • The UK planning system and economic development processes
    • Official and unofficial socio-economic data (ONS, NOMIS, gov.uk)
  • Proven experience in:
    • Conducting economic impact assessments (job creation, economic output calculations)
    • Writing socio-economic chapters for environmental impact assessments
