Edith Cowan University (ECU) is now inviting applications for its prestigious Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year. These scholarships are designed to support postgraduate students of outstanding research promise who are undertaking a higher degree by research at ECU. By providing comprehensive financial assistance, these scholarships aim to foster innovative research and academic excellence.

Scholarships Overview
- Scholarship Type: Full tuition fee cover
- Stipend Value: $35,000 per annum
- Relocation Allowance: Available for domestic students (where applicable), easing the transition to ECU.
- Health Insurance: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
- Study Level: Masters by Research, Integrated PhD, or PhD
- Study Course: Open to all research fields offered by ECU
- Citizen Type: Domestic and International students
- Number of Positions: Not specified
- Duration: Up to 2 years for a Masters by Research degree, and up to 3 years for a PhD
- Application opens: 4 September 2024
- Deadline: CLOSED

Eligibility
To Be Eligible For This Scholarship, Applicants Must
- Course Offer: Have been offered a place in an ECU Higher Degree by PhD, Integrated PhD research course, or Master by Research. Applicants who have submitted course admission applications prior to the scholarship closing date but have not yet been assessed or approved will still be considered; however, they will receive only a conditional scholarship offer if successful.
- Research Commencement:
- For PhD candidates: Commencement must be by 9th May 2025.
- For Master by Research candidates: Commencement must be by Semester 1, 2025.
- Supervisor Endorsement: Must have the endorsement of a principal supervisor for their proposed research project.
Ineligibility Conditions
- Previous recipients of an Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) or Australia Award scholarship within the last two years are ineligible.
- Lack of principal supervisor endorsement for the proposed research project will result in ineligibility.
- Candidates commencing after 9th May 2025 (for PhD) or Semester 1, 2025 (for Master by Research) will not be eligible.
- Receipt of an income that exceeds 75% of the 2025 ECU RTP base stipend rate ($35,000) for purposes other than supporting general living costs related to the research project or HDR course.

The Selection Will Be Based On
- Academic Merit: Achievements from previous study programs, including scores and rankings.
- Research Potential: Demonstrated research potential in the applicant's chosen field of study.
- Relevance: The relevance of the chosen program to the applicant's previous studies.
- Professional Experience: Relevant professional experience in the field of study.
- Referee Recommendations: Strong recommendations from previous referees.
- Research Skills: Demonstrated research skills through publications, if any.
