EDU Transmission Engineer
Role description At Tata Technologies we make product development dreams a reality by designing, engineering and validating the products of tomorrow for the world’s leading manufacturers. Due to our continued growth, we are now recruiting for a Advanced EDU Transmission Engineer to be based at our customer’s site in Coventry, England
Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
The Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an engineer to join our Advanced EDU Transmission squad, working within the JLR Agile framework. The purpose of this role is to support design, development, testing and requirement management activities of the next generation Electric Drive Unit (EDU) transmission systems. Currently the role will be focused on augmenting the engineering of demonstrator units for the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) Exceed project. The role may extend in the future to include support for other research projects including PhD’s.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
The engineer will be responsible for the following activities, or provide support where indicated:
- Design and Analysis
· Generation of EDU transmission concepts and CAD models in 3DX CATIA
· Creation of 2D drawings for gears and transmission components in 3DX CATIA
· Co-ordinate and conduct tolerance stacks and other calculations to support detailed design of the transmission sub-system.
· Work effectively with integration team to develop and optimise solutions considering multiple attributes within defined deadlines and time constraints
· Support and present at design reviews with key stakeholders including component design and attribute teams
· Generation of test reports for virtual design analysis.
- Systems Engineering
· Develop cascades of requirements from EDU level to transmission sub-system and components and release associated test cases.
- Support physical development

· Development of Test Procedures and specific Design Verification Methods (DVM’s)
· Co-ordinate prototype part procurement including Bill of material and quantities Liaise with prototype suppliers to achieve delivery plan
· Support Prototype Build for transmission components
· Analysis of test data
- Root cause investigation and resolution of engineering issues (AIMS)
· Root cause analysis and resolution of issues during development / launch / in production using 8D / Six Sigma Methodology
· Management of issues in relevant system
· Completion of Prevent Recurrence Actions
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
· Good technical understanding of mechanical component design (ideally transmission)
· Experience resolving business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including presentations and reporting.
