Education and Engagement Assistant (Education Assistant / Learning and Visitor Engagement Assistant) – UK Parliament
About the Role
As an Education and Engagement Assistant (Education Assistant / Learning and Visitor Engagement Assistant) at the UK Parliament, you’ll help bring democracy to life for thousands of young people visiting the iconic Palace of Westminster each year.
This is an exciting opportunity to deliver engaging educational experiences in one of the UK’s most historic and influential settings, inspiring students aged 5–18 to understand the role of Parliament and its impact on society.
Key Duties
You’ll:
- Warmly welcome school groups and other visitors;
- Lead interactive tours and workshops;
- Introduce visitors to the *Story of Parliament immersive experience;
- Prepare learning spaces;
- Maintain educational resources;
- Assist with bookings and administration for school visits;
- Collaborate with colleagues and support teams to ensure visits are safe, welcoming, and well-organised;
- Contribute to civic education while working at the heart of UK democracy.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality educational sessions, engaging young learners from age 5–18.
- Support the day-to-day operations of the Parliamentary Education Centre, including:
- Preparing learning spaces.
- Matching visit experiences to key stage expectations.
- Maintaining educational resources.
- Assist with bookings, administrative tasks, and visitor enquiries.
- Work closely with security teams to ensure smooth, safe, and inclusive visits.
- Champion the values of equality, diversity, and inclusion in all interactions.

Requirements
- Passion for education: Ability to deliver engaging, educational content to diverse audiences.
- Strong customer service skills: Experience in welcoming visitors and delivering positive experiences.
- Commitment to civic engagement: Understanding of why school visits to Parliament matter.
- Teamwork and flexibility: Willingness to uphold democratic values and collaborate with colleagues.
- Preference for candidates with:
- Experience working with young people (schools, youth groups).
- Knowledge of the English or Scottish education curriculum (preferred).
- Ability to produce written evidence against criteria 1–3 as part of the application.
