About the Role
Become an essential member of our Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs), contributing directly to improving children and young people’s emotional wellbeing across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.
As a Band 5 Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP), you will:
- Deliver evidence-based, low-intensity CBT interventions to children and young people experiencing mild-to-moderate mental health challenges
- Work with schools and colleges to implement whole-school mental health enhancement
- Ensure timely access to support so young people receive the right help at the right time

Job Description Summary: Core Duties

About You
We seek the following qualifications and experience:
- Completion of a CYPIAPT-accredited EMHP programme, with valid registration or pending registry eligibility
- Experience in delivering evidence-based interventions for children, young people, and families
- Ability to conduct needs assessments, manage risk, maintain gigabyte-quality clinical records
- Proficiency in balancing resilience, communication and safeguarding awareness
Key skills:
🔸 Strong collaboration with education teams, external agencies, and families 🔸 Adaptability to school environments and local geography (requiring regular travel) 🔸 Enthusiasm for early intervention grounded in high ethical standards
Registration Requirement
✅ Only applicants who have successfully completed their EMHP programme are eligible—this is strictly enforced.
If you’ve completed and have evidence in preparation of registration, yet registration with BABCP/BPS is pending, you are eligible and may apply.
Upon selection, your 3-month probationary contract (Band 4 rate) begins as a trainee while awaiting full registration and certification.

Standard employment terms:
⏳ 6-month probation period applies to new hires (exempting medical staff)
