Blackpool Zoo is seeking an Education Officer to join our Education Department.
Working within an experienced team, the successful candidate will help deliver the zoo's education programme, providing engaging and informative experiences for schools, organised groups and day visitors. The role involves delivering talks, workshops, animal encounters and other learning activities, alongside supporting the development of new educational content and resources.
About The Role
The Education Officer will contribute to the day-to-day delivery of the Education Department's activities, including:
- Delivering workshops, talks and educational activities to school groups and visitors
- Assisting with the development and review of educational resources and learning materials
- Supporting the delivery of animal encounters and other interactive experiences
- Promoting conservation and sustainability messages through educational activities
- Assisting with special events and seasonal activities across the zoo
- Maintaining high standards of customer service and visitor engagement
- Ensuring all activities are delivered in accordance with health and safety procedures

The role will involve regular weekend, bank holiday and school holiday working.
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual who can demonstrate:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Confidence speaking to groups of varying ages and sizes
- The ability to engage and interact positively with visitors
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- A professional and flexible approach to work
- An interest in wildlife conservation and environmental education
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Essential Requirements
- Experience delivering educational activities, presentations or public engagement programmes
- Experience working with children and young people
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work weekends, bank holidays and school holiday periods
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within a zoo, aquarium, museum, visitor attraction or education setting
- Qualification in education, zoology, biology, conservation or a related subject
- Experience delivering curriculum-linked learning sessions
- Experience handling animals or supporting animal interaction sessions
- Knowledge of current conservation and environmental issues
