Education Officer – Girls Professional Game Academy (PGA) Location: Staplewood Campus Hours: Part Time (22.5 hours per week) Contract Type: Permanent Criminal Record Check: DBS Enhanced with Children’s Barred List
About the Role
We are seeking an Education Officer to lead, design, and quality-assure the Education Programme across the Girls Professional Game Academy (PGA). This role ensures every player receives personalised, high-quality academic and vocational support, developed in partnership with players and their parents/carers. The position must align seamlessly with the football programme while fostering long-term wellbeing, career adaptability, and informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Serve as the PGA’s primary contact for education providers (schools, colleges, universities, awarding bodies).
- Coordinated Support: Ensure balanced schedules for learning, training, and competitions while maintaining robust relationships with external partners.
- Holistic Player Development: Collaborate with Player Lifestyle Leads to embed education considerations within player development, upholding professional accountability.
- Education Continuity: Manage academic transitions for players during loan moves, dual registration, and contract changes.
- Safeguarding & Inclusivity: Create a safe, inclusive, and aspirational education environment that meets FA PGA Licence and safeguarding requirements.
- Pressure Management: Support players in managing academic demands while nurturing their ambitions.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills) with active SET (Skillset) membership.
- Proven experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring, particularly in multi-disciplinary settings.
- Knowledge of working with external providers, dual career pathways, and accreditation frameworks (e.g., DISE programme).
- Understands the impact of loan moves, ADR (Academy Dual Registration) on education and welfare.
- Enhanced DBS clearance, Safeguarding qualification, and experience with Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Framework preferred.
