Education Officer – Girls Professional Game Academy Location: Staplewood Campus Hours: Part-Time (22.5 hrs/week) Contract: Permanent Key Requirement: Enhanced DBS with Children’s Barred List Check
About the Role
Join Southampton Football Club in shaping the future of young athletes through education. As the Education Officer for the Girls Professional Game Academy (PGA), you will:
- Lead, design, and quality-assure a bespoke Education Programme tailored to each player’s needs.
- Collaborate with their parents/carers to ensure personalised, high-quality academic support aligns with their football development.
- Act as the PGA’s strategic education hub, fostering partnerships with schools, colleges, universities, and awarding bodies.
Responsibilities
- Player Support: Provide academic, vocational, and personal development to prepare young players for life beyond sport.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary liaison for education providers, balancing learning schedules with training/competition demands.
- Integration: Collaborate with the Player Lifestyle Lead to embed education within holistic player development while maintainingclear boundaries.
- Inclusive Environment: Create a safe, aspirational learning space that nurtures ambition, reduces academic stress, and meets FA PGA Licence safeguarding standards.
- Continuity Mechanics: Manage education transitions for players including loan moves, dual registration, and academy contract changes.

Requirements
Essential:
- QTS or QTLS (with active SET membership for QTLS).
- Proven experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring.
- Skilled at navigating dual-career providers and coordinating complex schedules.
- Enhanced DBS check, safeguarding qualification, and knowledge of Education Fellowship for Athletics & Football (EFAIF).
- DISE Program bargaining experience (or alternative organised dual-career coordination).
- Understanding of loan moves, Affiliation Agreements for Players (ADRs), and their welfare implications.
