Educational Mental Health Practitioner - Sefton
Permanent Position: Qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner (B5)
Hours: 37.5 per week

About the Opportunity
An exciting permanent role as a Qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) is available to join our Mental Health Services Team (MHST). You’ll collaborate with schools across Sefton, working within an integrated multi-disciplinary team (North, South, Central or specialist team).
You will act as a case manager for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges, delivering evidence-based interventions either independently or under supervision from senior practitioners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments.
- Planning, delivering and reviewing interventions.
- Partnering with schools using a Whole School Approach (WSA).
- Monitoring risk and ensuring young people with severe needs access rapid support.
- Optimising safeguarding and welfare practices.

Responsibilities
- Provide holistic case management for children/youth aged 4–25 with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
- Deliver trauma-focused interventions, CBT and self-harming support within schools.
- Collaborate with multi-agency teams (e.g., teachers, social workers, CAMHS) to implement holistic plans.
- Advocate for children (including those with autism/special educational needs) and flag safeguarding concerns.
- Meet CQC checks, mentoring and continuing professional development (CPD) demands.
About the Team
The MHST spans both Sefton and Liverpool, working with ~200 schools. Based at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, teams include:
- Liverpool: North, South, Central and a Transition Team.
- Sefton: North, South, Central with tailored transition focus, plus the Wave 11 LD support team.
Participation in monthly training and supervision is mandatory.
Critical Requirements
- Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (HCPC).
- Post Graduate Diploma in Education Mental Health Practice.
- Working towards becoming a licensed mental health professional (or equivalent).
- Computer literacy and Microsoft Teams training completed.

Benefits

Referral reward: £750.00 stipend after 6 months, paid in two instalments:
- £250.00 payment start date and
- £500.00 upon hiring department approval.

Accommodation support: Up to £3 per month (reimburseable) for up to 3 months from start date.
