Private Therapy Clinic is a private mental health service specialising in ADHD, autism, AuDHD assessments, psychiatry, and psychological therapy for adults, children, and young people. The multidisciplinary team includes HCPC-registered psychologists, GMC-registered psychiatrists, and BABCP-accredited cognitive behavioural therapists, offering care in person at London and Dublin clinics and online across the UK, Ireland, and the UAE.
Role Description
The Educational Psychologist – Contractor (EHC Needs Assessments) is a contractor role supporting a Local Authority contract in the Wirral area, offered on a hybrid basis; assessments are primarily conducted face-to-face in schools and early years settings, with the option for some assessments and all report writing to be completed remotely.
The role involves carrying out detailed Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments for children and young people, including direct observation, individual assessment, and consultation with families, schools, and other professionals. The contractor will prepare clear, evidence-based psychological reports to inform EHC plans, recommendations for provision, and support strategies in educational settings.

Day-to-day tasks include:

- Interpreting assessment data
- Contributing to multidisciplinary meetings
- Advising on interventions for learning, behaviour, and social-emotional development
- Liaising with local authorities and schools to ensure high-quality, timely assessments
- Keeping accurate records
- Maintaining professional standards
- Staying up to date with relevant legislation and guidance related to special educational needs
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Educational Psychology, with experience in EHC needs assessments and applying psychological principles in educational settings.
- Solid foundation in Psychology and Mental Health, including assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions for children and young people.
- Knowledge of Education and Special Education, including SEND frameworks, EHC plans, and inclusive practices in schools.
- HCPC registration (or eligibility) as an Educational Psychologist and relevant postgraduate qualification in Educational/Child Psychology.
- Experience working with schools, local authorities, and multidisciplinary teams, with strong report-writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on-site, manage a caseload, meet deadlines, and uphold safeguarding and ethical standards.
- Familiarity with UK SEND legislation, the Code of Practice, and current best practice in assessment and intervention is highly beneficial.
