Now is a sparkling opportunity to grow as an Educational Psychologist (EP). We’re recognised positively by schools and services. Ofsted highlighted our Educational Psychology Service (EPS) as a strength in Newham.

The Role

We’re seeking passionate and proactive Educational Psychologists committed to championing children and young people’s wellbeing through:

  • Inclusivity across an array of educational settings, including:
    • Mainstream and special schools
    • Children’s centres
    • Universities
    • CDE (Children’s and Developing Services)

EPs are engaged in a rich portfolio of practices such as:

  • Early intervention strategies
  • Psychological assessments
  • Systemic consultation Developments in:
    • Emotion coaching
    • ELSA training and supervision
    • Reflective supervision
  • Strategic focus areas:
    • EB Educational and Behavioural Support Arrangements (EBSA)
    • Trauma-informed practice
    • Critical incident support

There will be possibilities to contribute to community-initiated projects, including:

  • Thriving Communities – a multi-agency collaboration to:
    • Improve attendance
    • Reduce exclusions
    • Enhance well-being of vulnerable youth within outside-school violent environments
  • Youth Empowerment Service – joint initiative with University of East London (UEL) focusing on systemic work and group supervision
  • CHAND (**CHildren with Autism in Newham Utility Improvement team) "Every child deserves to shine!" – unique multidisciplinary collaboration providing tailored support for autism through assessment and intervention services

Ideal Candidate

We welcome:

  • EPs with experience, newly qualified or in training
  • Full/part-time availability considered (minimum 0.6 FTE) We specifically seek applicants from minority communities to strengthen a diverse EPS team reflecting the borough's demographics.

Professional requirements:

  • Be professionally qualified HCPC registration OR
  • In Year 2 or 3 of a recognised training programme, willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check
