TASKS
Teachers are contracted to work 27 contact teaching and/or testing and orientation hours each week, though contracted hours will not necessarily be used equally throughout your contract.
Most lessons are pre-prepared and have been carefully developed to help students develop their language and soft skills. There is however some opportunity for teachers to use their own lesson plans, allowing you to be creative but not having to plan every lesson. Lessons can usually be repeated daily which cuts down on planning time considerably.
One of our centres (Cirencester) also caters for 7-10 years old. If you have any experience with this age group or of teaching English through performance, please mention this in your application.
Residential Teachers will also complete 1 educational excursion per week (10 hours) but will not have any pastoral duties i.e., no night-time duties or wake up calls.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
