eFX OPS Functional Engineer
Help power one of ING’s most business-critical platforms at the heart of global FX trading. As an OPS Functional Engineer in the eFX Capability Team, you'll work on high-performance, real-time trading systems that directly impact pricing, liquidity, and client experience worldwide. This is a unique opportunity to combine production support, innovation, automation, and business collaboration in a fast-paced environment where your work delivers visible and meaningful results.
The Team
Broadway is ING’s Front Office eFX platform, supporting FX trading, pricing, hedging, liquidity management, and client services. It combines in-house pricing systems with vendor trading platforms in a high-performance, low-latency environment. The eFX Capability Team operates globally across London, Bucharest, and Singapore, with 7 OPS engineers working in Agile DevOps squads alongside business stakeholders, developers, and vendor teams.
Roles and Responsibilities
As an OPS Functional Engineer, you will support and enhance the Broadway platform, balancing operational support (30%) with delivery and continuous improvement (70%).
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing L1/L2 production support, incident resolution, and participation in an on-call rota.
- Managing incidents (internal and vendor), problems, and changes, including writing user stories and driving root-cause analysis.
- Gathering and analysing business requirements and translating them into functional and technical solutions.
- Designing test automation and end-to-end testing frameworks (e.g. Playwright, Python-based testing frameworks)
- Driving automation (e.g. Playwright), monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, etc), scripting, and environment improvements using modern DevOps practices.
- Collaborating with Product Owners, developers, vendors, and business stakeholders across multiple locations.
- Contributing to backlog management, release testing, and continuous service improvement.

How to Succeed
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for solving complex business challenges. You will thrive in this role if you have:
- 5+ years' experience in Financial Markets, ideally with supporting FX or eFX trading platforms
- Experience as an OPS, Functional Engineer, or DevOps professional supporting business-critical applications.
- Strong knowledge of FX products, Agile delivery methodology and software development lifecycles
- Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, testing, and automation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, monitoring tools, Linux environments, and Azure DevOps is advantageous.
- A proactive, self-starting mindset and the confidence to work independently.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative approach, curiosity to learn, and a drive to continuously improve systems and processes
