Senior Plant & Contracts Manager – EGTL Group


Manage a designated plant area and systems focusing on governance, risk and compliance; business planning and budget management; project and outage management; contract strategies and contract management; development of maintenance strategies; and stakeholder management to drive business, department and team operational targets.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage governance, risk, and compliance strategies to ensure responsible operation of EGTL (Enfield, Grain & Taylors Lane) assets, aligned with GMI-PEM, MAN, and SHE management systems.
  • Develop and oversee the plant area and systems engineering business plan, integrating it into the overall EGTL business plan.
  • Manage engineering and maintenance operational and capital budgets effectively.
  • Lead project and outage management from concept to delivery, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, time, and cost targets.
  • Execute strategic contract management from concept to delivery, including contract negotiations and performance oversight.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to achieve technical, compliance, and cost performance.
  • Drive stakeholder management and benchmarking to meet business targets and embed best practice.

Requirements

Technical & Existent Proficiency

  • Extensive knowledge of power plant engineering, maintenance, and operations, with a qualified degree-level background in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Control & Instrumentation Engineering
    • or equivalent HNC/D qualification and demonstrable experience
  • Deep understanding of current policies and procedures governing engineering assets & CCGT management.

Project & Contract Management

  • Experience in managing high-value, high-risk power plant projects, with accreditation at:
    • APMP Level D or equivalent, working toward APMP Project Manager Level C
  • Proven expertise in contract management, including:
    • Sequential technical and commercial contract negotiations
    • Aligning contracts with cost, performance, and delivery models
    • Risk assessment for operational and financial security
  • CME (Contractor Management & Engagement certified), authorised to hold roles such as:
    • Nominated Engineers Representative
    • ERSHE (Engineers Representative Safety & Health)
    • Instructing Engineer

Maintenance & Safety Leadership

  • Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance best practices, with execution via SAP.
  • Experience leading a regenerative safety culture, qualified in:
    • NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety & Health) or equivalent

Operational Excellence & Communication

  • Experience as an operational excellence lead.
  • Advanced communication, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills, with ability to:
    • Motivate individuals, teams, and contractors
    • Adopt a hands-on, solution-focused approach
  • Ability to inspire change and challenge traditional practices collaboratively.

  • Continued development towards recognition from a professional body.
