SEND EHC Coordinator - Assessment Team

Location: Hemel Hempstead

Starting Salary: £34,434 pa (with the opportunity to progress to £37,280 per annum) Hours: 37 per week Contract: 1x Permanent Vacancy & 2x Fixed term Vacancies (until January 2027 and until August 2027)

In this role, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. Join our growing team of passionate professionals dedicated to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).

About The Team

The 0-25 Statutory Assessments Team within SEND focuses on the assessment stage of the EHC needs assessment process, collaborating closely with parents/carers/families/schools to draft and finalise Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans.

About The Role

As the EHC Coordinator, you will:

  • Manage and process EHC plans within a complex legal framework and strict statutory timescales.
  • Ensure meticulous attention to detail with strong case management skills.
  • Review and implement legal requirements, creating, amending, and maintaining EHC plans that shape the support children receive.
  • Work with practitioners, parents, and carers, but primarily focus on statutory processes and decision-making—not direct interaction with children or young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop high standards of achievement and inclusion for children and young people with SEN, ensuring a focus on preparing for adulthood from an early age. Ensure this aligns with the Council's policy and funding frameworks.
  • Provide parents, children, young people, and schools with clear, accurate, and timely information in an easily usable format.
  • Manage and process statutory casework within legal and internal deadlines.
  • Collaborate across education, healthcare, and social care services to improve outcomes for children.
  • Lead decision-making processes—including assessments, plans, or specialist provision—ensuring they align with local authority policies, procedures, and eligibility criteria.
  • Attend or chair panel meetings, annual reviews, and multi-agency discussions regarding children with complex needs.
  • Develop and refine SEND policy, procedures, and support mechanisms, including:
    • Maintaining up-to-date SEN casework knowledge.
    • Tracking national legislative changes.
    • Supporting team training and onboarding.
  • Ensure accurate, comprehensive, and compliant database records are maintained as part of monitoring and quality assurance efforts.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
