EHS Advisor | Location: UK (Remote) | Reports to: UK & Ireland EHS Lead | Salary: Up to £47,500 | Full-Time

About the Opportunity

Are you an environmental health and safety professional passionate about driving cultural change and ensuring the highest standards of EHS? Veolia is seeking a dedicated EHS Advisor to:

  • Lead safety initiatives that protect people and environments

Key Responsibilities

EHS Culture & Leadership

  • Foster a positive EHS culture through policy implementation and organic engagement.
  • Support the leadership team in developing, managing, and monitoring company-wide EHS performance metrics.

Compliance & Legislation

  • Provide expert guidance to ensure compliance with statutory regulations, contractual obligations, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor emerging EHS regulatory developments and assess their impact on operations.

Risk Management & Auditing

  • Design, maintain, and review Risk Management systems in line with Veolia standards.
  • Conduct systematic audits to evaluate effectiveness, identify gaps, and drive continuous improvement.

ISO Management Systems

  • Oversee company EHS processes to maintain ISO-related certifications.
  • Lead the implementation and integration of ISO management systems and manage auditor relationships.

Incident Management & Reporting

  • Maintain comprehensive records of accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
  • Investigate all safety incidents and high-potential near-misses, documenting findings and enforcing corrective actions.
  • Submit mandatory incident reports to the Health and Safety Executive within prescribed deadlines.

Training & Development

  • Ensure all personnel receive appropriate EHS training, information, and instruction (both internal and external).
  • Approve training programmes, maintain accurate compliance records, and ensure certifications remain current.

Supplier & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary liaison with customers and supply chain partners on EHS requirements.
  • Manage supplier and subcontractor compliance through EHS pre-qualification assessments before site authorisation.

Reporting & Strategic Planning

  • Deliver monthly EHS performance reports to leadership and regulators.
  • Establish EHS strategic plans, objectives, and benchmarks aligned with Veolia’s organisational goals.
  • Provide ad-hoc analytical reports as requested by senior leadership.

Requirements

Qualifications (Essential)

✅ NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) ✅ IOSH training (or equivalent) ✅ Exposure to ISO Standards ✅ Excellent presentation skills and ability to deliver training ✅ Strong communication and interpersonal skills

(Desirable: NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH/IIRSM membership, formal auditing/quality experience)


Experience (Essential)

✅ 3+ years in a Health & Safety role ✅ Experience in accident/incident investigation ✅ Knowledge of H&S legislation ✅ Strong communication at all levels ✅ Presentation & training capabilities ✅ Self-motivation, strong planning and organisational skills ✅ Experience with digital reporting platforms

(Desirable: Membership of a professional body like IOSH, Google Suite proficiency, experience with COSHH/chemical safety or pharma/healthcare EHS)
