Job Description

The role of EHS Lead is responsible for ensuring that the specific facility or project is established and operated in compliance with JEG EHS standards, Client EHS requirements, and legal EHS obligations. Key responsibilities include:

Safety Management System

  • Development and implementation of the JEG safety management system on site.

Risk Assessment

  • Implement robust risk management methodologies, such as:
    • RAMS (Risk Assessment / Method Statements)
    • HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment)
    • Safe Plans of Action
    • Pre-Start Plans design

Incident Investigation

  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (e.g., the 5 Whys) to investigate incidents and prevent recurrence.

Auditing

  • Implement JEG site auditing programs to maintain compliance monitoring.

Training

  • Develop and deliver safety training to relevant personnel.

Reporting Unsafes

  • Drive the JEG Safety Observation Reports on site to eliminate and minimise risks.

Documentation

  • Maintain all necessary safety documentation as per the JEG approach, including:
    • RAMS
    • Audits
    • Incidents

Data Literacy

  • Utilise JEG IT platforms to record, collate, and interpret leading/lagging data, driving site decision-making.

Emergency Response

  • Develop and regularly conduct site emergency drills covering scenarios such as:
    • Fires
    • Falls
    • Equipment drops
    • Chemical spills
    • Medical events

Coaching & Mentoring

  • Coach and mentor workers and supervisors on safety ownership principles.

Transparent Reporting

  • Communicate complex risk information to senior leadership, highlighting business impact.

Environmental Stewardship

  • Manage environmental aspects to align with ISO 14001 certification.

Health & Wellness

  • Oversee and promote workplace health programmes and campaigns.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Serve as the primary liaison with government agencies, ensuring permits are up-to-date and sites are audit-ready.

Supervision

  • Exercise significant autonomy in defining deliverables of assignments, with minimal managerial oversight.

  • Contribute to defining direction for new equipment, processes, standards, or operational plans, making a significant impact on work group results.

  • Develop solutions to complex challenges or implement moderate to significant improvements to processes, systems, or products independently for enhanced performance.

Requirements

  • 5 years’ experience in a similar EHS Lead or related role.
  • Level 7 or 8 National Framework Qualification equivalent.
  • Strong client interfacing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to influence decisions without formal authority.
