Operations Engineer (E&I) – Kings Lynn / Diss
Salary: £55,500 – £65,500 + up to 6% annual bonus + company car (subject to business mileage) Overtime & Standby: Up to 10–15% additional earnings, plus additional compensation for Duty Engineer shifts (1 week every 4–5)
Location: East 4 region (Norfolk & North Suffolk) Travel: Routine (5+ days a week across the regional patch)

About the Role
As the Authorising Engineer (E&I), you’ll deliver technical leadership across an operational area within the East region, owning safety, efficiency, and asset performance. Key responsibilities include:
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee a team of technicians, ensuring maintenance and operational tasks are delivered efficiently and safely
- Drive defect resolution and mitigate operational risks, collaborating closely with teams on hands-on tasks
- Issue multi-discipline permits-to-work, adhering to electrical safety rules
- Act as Duty Engineer (24/7 rotatable standby, 1 week every 4–5), providing technical support across the East region
- Conduct competence assessments to ensure team capability within E&I disciplines
- Analyse asset performance data to prioritise maintenance and optimise operational efficiency
- Spearhead compliance with health, safety, and engineering standards
- Contribute to design studies, focusing on safe working practices, maintainability, and life-cost improvements
- Managed incident control for both planned and emergency situations

About You
This role requires a hands-on, safety-first leader with:
- strong E&I technical expertise
- proven team management experience
- commitment to operational excellence and personal/process safety
You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, operational environment, fostering stakeholder relationships and demonstrating: ✔ Integrity, ownership, and accountability ✔ Decision-making skills that balance asset performance, team competency, and operational safety ✔ Passion for coaching and mentoring to develop and motivate your team
Essential Requirements
Key experience and qualifications expected include: 🔹 Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in electrical or instrumentation engineering 🔹 Hands-on experience in setting teams to work within a formal permit-to-work system 🔹 Strong knowledge of gas entry/exit, GSMR, and Network Code procedures 🔹 IOSH Managing Safely certification 🔹 Full UK car driving licence
Desirable but Not Mandatory
🔸 Progress towards Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status 🔸 Established Security Clearance (SC)
