Job Description
About the Role
The UK water sector is experiencing a period of extraordinary investment and transformation. As Egis scales its Water Business in the UK, it is building a high-performing EICA (Electrical, Instrumentation, Communication & Automation) Engineering team to navigate this growth.
This role is for motivated candidates who want to contribute meaningfully to major water and wastewater programmes. Joining a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you will innovate in sustainable treatment solutions across nationally significant projects.
This is a unique opportunity to help establish Egis’ EICA engineering capability from the ground up, leveraging global expertise and long-term commitment to the water sector.
Key Responsibilities
• Contribute to discipline design packages across feasibility, optioneering, concept, outline, and detailed design for UK water/wastewater treatment projects.
• Produce calculations, specifications, datasheets, schedules, technical notes, reports, drawings, and model inputs under senior guidance.
• Support site visits, asset surveys, data reviews, and discussions with operators, suppliers, and technology providers.
• Collaborate with Process, Mechanical, EICA, and MEP teams to deliver integrated, practical, and maintainable treatment solutions.

• Use digital tools, spreadsheets, models, and data analysis to enhance design quality and efficiency.
• Assist with CDM/safety-by-design activities and contribute to design risk identification.
• Support supplier/contractor reviews, technical queries, commissioning, and handover information as needed.
• Work within budget, scope, and programme constraints, escalating risks early to maintain a collaborative technical team culture.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
• BEng/MEng or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 4+ years of relevant engineering design experience (preferably in water, wastewater, utilities, process, energy, or infrastructure projects).
• Understanding of treatment design lifecycle, ability to prepare clear discipline-specific deliverables.
• Knowledge of UK standards, CDM/safety-by-design principles, and quality assurance processes.
• Proficiency in cross-discipline collaboration to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Digital literacy, including Excel, and familiarity with design/modelling tools (with enthusiasm for automation, simulation, and data-driven delivery).
• Strong written/verbal communication skills.
• Availability to visit operational sites/construction worksites as required.
Desirable Skills / Knowledge
• Experience in:
- Municipal water, wastewater, sludge/bioresources, water reuse, nutrient removal, pumping, energy optimisation, low-carbon treatment.
• Exposure to:
- AMP8, WINEP (Water Industry National Efficiency Plan), SROs (Sustainability and Resilience Outcomes), D&B (Design & Build), framework, or alliance environments.
• Experience with:
- BIM/3D coordination, process simulation, hydraulic modelling, Power BI, Python, VBA, or advanced Excel.
