Elasticsearch Platform Engineer

The Opportunity This is more than just a job; it’s a mission. We are seeking an experienced Elasticsearch Platforms Engineer to join our Data Platforms Infrastructure team. You will play a pivotal role in designing, deploying and maintaining our Elastic Cloud Enterprise (ECE) environments, enabling secure, scalable and high‑performing Observability and Search capabilities across mission‑critical systems. Our UK Cyber and Intelligence business combines modern engineering approaches with decades of Defence sector expertise. Our customers operate in highly sensitive environments and rely on us to deliver resilient, secure and high‑performance technology at scale. This is work that truly matters. What You Will Do Manage, monitor and maintain Elastic Cloud Enterprise environments, including cluster upgrades, patching and troubleshooting. Design and deploy secure, scalable Elasticsearch solutions for Observability and Search. Implement best‑practice indexing, storage and data retrieval strategies. Apply strong security, privacy and compliance principles across the Elasticsearch ecosystem. Monitor cluster performance and optimise configurations to improve reliability and reduce latency. Work closely with DevOps, Security and Development teams to integrate Elasticsearch with wider platforms. Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and operational procedures. Drive continuous improvement, automation and innovation across the Elasticsearch platform. What We’re Looking For Essential Strong understanding of Elasticsearch architecture, components, APIs and data indexing. Experience designing and deploying Elasticsearch solutions for Observability and Search. Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks such as GDPR or HIPAA. Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g. Python, Bash, Ansible). Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP, and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes. Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Desirable Experience with Cloudera, Hadoop, Cloudera Data Science Workbench or Cloudera Machine Learning. If you don’t meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
