Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Elective Bookings Officer to join the Surgery Waiting List Bookings Team at Frimley Park Hospital, based at Archipelago Buildings.

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting patient pathways by coordinating and managing the booking and rescheduling of elective inpatient procedures. Working in a busy and rewarding environment, you will liaise with patients, clinical teams and colleagues to ensure appointments are arranged efficiently and in line with service requirements.

The successful candidate will be a highly organised individual with excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail. You will be able to work confidently on your own initiative while also contributing positively as part of a dedicated and supportive team.

This is a part-time position (22.5 hours per week) offered on a permanent contract, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your administrative and patient-facing skills within a dynamic healthcare setting.

Main Duties of the Job

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to confidently manage both internal and external telephone enquiries. They will demonstrate a flexible approach to work and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team. Strong attention to detail is essential, particularly in relation to data collection and record keeping, alongside an understanding of local and national performance targets.

This Band 3 position offers an excellent opportunity to develop and enhance your skills within the Elective Bookings Team, gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced and rewarding healthcare environment.

Visa Sponsorship

This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must already hold the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the contract.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • GCSE English and Maths pass or equivalent
  • ECDL or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • NVQ Level 2 Administration or equivalent practical knowledge

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working in a hospital or busy office environment.
  • Significant experience in difficult patient situations.
  • Minimum of 1 year customer care experience

Desirable criteria

  • Call centre experience
  • NHS experience

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Good communication skills both verbal and in writing
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy when completing tasks
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work using own initiative
  • Excellent customer service skills and evidence of dealing with telephones and meeting targets

Desirable criteria

  • Call centre experience
  • Good knowledge of NHS targets
  • Knowledge of clinical and surgical procedures
