Job Description – Electric Motor Design Engineer

We are hiring an Electric Motor Design Engineer to join an established aerospace engineering team, supporting the development of advanced rotating systems and electric motor technologies. You’ll play a key role in the mechanical design and development of high-performance components, contributing to the full product lifecycle—from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components for electric motors and associated rotating systems.
  • Support the design of transmission elements, including shafts, gearboxes, and related hardware.
  • Create and maintain detailed 3D models and design data using CATIA V5.
  • Apply GD&T principles to ensure designs meet tight tolerance and performance requirements.
  • Support material selection activities, particularly for aluminium and sheet metal components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support product development and integration activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required Skills

  • Experience in rotating component design (e.g., electric motors, transmission systems, gearboxes, shafts).
  • Strong expertise in 3D modelling using CATIA V5.
  • Good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) for tight tolerance environments.
  • Experience with material selection, particularly for aluminium and sheet metal.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills

  • Aerospace background or experience with high-performance, safety-critical mechanical systems.
  • Experience supporting product development through multiple stages, from concept to production.
