Electrical and Electronic Design Engineer

Department: Operations
Location: Bradford-on-Avon

Description

Working within AB Dynamics’ Electrical and Electronic Design Engineering team, you will develop technologically complex, high-value products from conception through to production. These projects will often involve a multi-disciplinary team of Mechanical, Electrical, Software and Project Engineers. You will work predominantly on robotic projects for our Track Test Department and Kinematics & Compliance projects for our Lab Test Department, which supplies OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers with R&D equipment for their automotive development efforts.

Core Responsibilities

  • Resolve complex design problems, prepare concept designs, and produce complete systems and/or products utilising primary electrical and electronic design (wiring loom and PCB design) and secondary software and mechanical design
  • Creation of detailed electrical/electronic schematics and PCB layouts following design for manufacturability practices
  • Work with Suppliers and ABD’s Manufacturing, Test and Commissioning departments to source, manufacture, calibrate, deliver and support our products
  • Prepare and submit documentation for Engineering Releases including – engineering calculations, detailed drawings, parts lists, test reports, design reviews, regulatory compliance (risk assessments, FMEA, LVD, EMC, etc.), build manuals, installation manuals, etc.
  • Propel the manufacture of prototypes and final products through a busy manufacturing department
  • Support our global customers using AB Dynamics’ products in the field. Collaborate with them to develop solutions and envisage future product ideas for their automotive R&D capabilities

What are we looking for?

  • Degree qualified Engineer in an Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or Robotics Engineering discipline, although exceptional candidates with relevant experience and/or HND qualifications only will be considered.
  • Electrical CAD & Electronic PCB design experience, although exceptional candidates with practical experience and a willingness to learn design will be considered.
  • A passion for design with good analytical skills and the ability to liaise across engineering disciplines. Creativity and a determination to succeed are key attributes for this role.
