We are open-minded and fearless in our approach to innovation and don't believe in boundaries. We challenge everything and have massive ambitions to drag aging industries into the tech era. Our business is built on the belief that there's definitely a more environmentally responsible way to operate at sea. We employ people who share our core values. We expect our people to be courageous, trustworthy, and conscientious, driven by a desire to do the right thing. We strive for excellence, work collaboratively, and are genuinely excited by our work. We offer opportunities for our people to develop beyond their role and span a multitude of disciplines. These are open to all, regardless of background and experience level. Working with us means being part of a team that is harnessing technology and creativity to disrupt a traditional industry. We are not your average workplace. The Electrical Assembly Technician plays a critical role in building high‑quality electrical systems and assemblies that are ready for seamless integration, test, and deployment. You will take engineering intent — schematics, wiring diagrams, and build documentation — and turn it into precise, reliable, right‑first‑time electrical builds that underpin safe and consistent product delivery. This role combines: Hands‑on electrical assembly — building panels, looms, junction boxes, cabinets, and electrical sub‑assemblies to defined standards Cross‑disciplinary integration — working closely with mechanical and manufacturing teams to ensure clean, serviceable, compliant installations Quality‑driven production support — maintaining workmanship standards, identifying issues early, and supporting rework or retrofit activities You will ensure that every electrical build is completed accurately, safely, and consistently — not just wired, but wired correctly, with the care and attention that prevents downstream issues and protects delivery performance. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, hands‑on engineering, takes pride in build quality, and thrives in a production environment where precision, teamwork, and methodical execution matter every day. What you will be doing Assemble and wire electrical systems - Build electrical panels, looms, junction boxes, cabinets, and sub‑assemblies using schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings, and work instructions to guide accurate, repeatable assembly Install and terminate electrical components - Fit power supplies, PLCs, I/O modules, relays, terminals, drives, sensors, and connectors. Cut, strip, crimp, label, and terminate cables to defined standards and wiring schedules Carry out electrical testing and fault‑finding - Perform continuity checks, insulation resistance tests, and basic functional testing. Support power‑up and pre‑commissioning activities, diagnosing and rectifying wiring or component faults as required. Support mechanical–electrical integration - Work closely with mechanical technicians to ensure electrical routing, access, and interfaces are clean, safe, and serviceable, including light mechanical fitting such as DIN rail, trunking, brackets, and enclosures Maintain quality, safety, and compliance - Build in accordance with electrical standards (e.g., BS/IEC), follow EHS procedures including safe isolation and lock‑off, and ensure neatness, traceability, and workmanship standards are consistently met. Raise non‑conformances and highlight unclear documentation Support production and delivery activities - Assist with rework, retrofit, and refit activities on deployed or returned systems. Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Design to resolve build issues and feedback improvements to drawings, harness designs, and work instructions. Support packaging and preparation for shipment when required Who you are Experienced in electrical assembly or panel wiring - You have hands‑on experience in industrial or production environments, confident reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, and comfortable using hand tools, crimp tools, torque tools, and basic test equipment Detail‑driven and quality‑focused - You take pride in neat, traceable, right‑first‑time wiring and understand how build quality impacts downstream integration, test, and customer delivery Comfortable in production environments - You can work to build schedules, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain a clean, organised, safe workspace A practical, collaborative team member - You work well with mechanical, electrical, and production colleagues, communicate clearly, and take ownership of your build output Desirable Electrical qualification or apprenticeship (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) Experience with control panels, automation systems, or industrial/mobile equipment Familiarity with PLC‑based systems or complex looms Experience supporting low‑volume or bespoke builds transitioning into repeatable production Basic electrical fault‑finding and rework capability Salary: The salary varies for this position as we are recruiting in multiple regional locations and job grades. The salary process is based on skills, abilities, and experience required. What you can expect: At Ocean Infinity, we believe in creating equal opportunities for all, celebrating each and everyone’s differences. We are driven by transforming the industry, through our technology, thoughts, behaviours and actions. Being inclusive and respectful to all is fundamental to who we are. It is the right thing to do and enables innovation and creativity to thrive. There is more work to be done, and we know that we aren’t perfect, but our commitment to these values is unwavering. They are central to our mission and the impact we have on the industry, meaning, we cannot live without them. Simply put, our mission is to use innovative technology, to transform operations at sea, to enable people and the planet to thrive.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
