At Cavendish Nuclear we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer, based at one of our key locations Moor Row, (Cumbria) Warrington (Cheshire), Leicester (Leicestershire) or Bristol.

The Role

As an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of developing, delivering, and supporting radiometric characterisation and alarm systems across the UK and internationally. This is a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to contribute to nuclear safety and innovation, while advancing your career in a highly specialised and impactful field.

Day-to-day, you’ll

  • Develop and verify technical solutions, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Lead investigations and drive design improvements across projects
  • Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to manage specifications and delivery
  • Support project execution and mentor junior engineers
  • Promote engineering excellence, health and safety, and cultural change across the business

This is a full-time role with a 37-hour working week, based at one of our key locations Moor Row, (Cumbria) Warrington (Cheshire), Leicester (Leicestershire) or Bristol. Hybrid working patterns are available, with an expectation of 3 days per week in the office.

Essential Experience

  • Working collaboratively in multi-discipline teams across varied project types
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Delivering systems input and providing post-installation or third-line technical support
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers on-site for testing, installation, and commissioning
  • Background in EC&I, Physics, or Radiometric, with experience in control systems and analogue/digital electronics

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree (or equivalent) in electronics, control and instrumentation, or a related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards it

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Further details are available at United Kingdom Security Vetting: clearance levels - GOV.UK
