Location: Based at CCGT site in Kent or in North London
Salary: £75,000–Pbdp + medical coverage + bonus
About the Role
Astute are partnering with a leading energy organisation to recruit a Lead Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Strategy Engineer for challenging new projects.
This operationally led Engineering role is ideal if you’re degree-qualified in an Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation or related discipline and have proven project management experience.
Responsibilities span strategy, multi-discipline project leadership, contract management and continuous improvement for a critical asset ¬Ù delivering both strategic and operational value.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, in this role you will:
- Develop and implement governance, risk and compliance (GRAC) strategies to support safe and reliable EC&I plant systems in operation.
- Lead engineering business planning and oversee operational & capital expenditure within scope, ensuring commercial accountability.
- Execute multi-million projects and outages from concept design, risk and cost planning through to decommissioning ¬Ù always delivering to time, schedule, cost and key performance criteria.
- Manage contract strategies, evaluate supplier performance and lead technical & commercial negotiations to minimise risk.
- Develop maintenance strategies to improve EC&I asset reliability, compliance, and performance using latest industry standards and best practice.
- Drive continuous improvement, leveraging technique like root cause analysis, audits, benchmarking and flowcharting.
- Lead technical reviews of EC&I-related modifications ensuring robust engineering and effective change management processes.
- Enforce stringent compliance across HSE, engineering and environmental standards, helping the company foster a strong safety culture.
- Assist in defining technical tender specifications and manage contractors for EC&I equipment and services procurements.
- Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, third-party contractors and external technical partners.

What we’re looking for
Professional Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent HNC/HND) in Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation or related engineering field, or significant that proves practical credibility.
- Strong industry experience specifically in EC&I systems across power generation (especially CCGT), heavy process or high-risk industrial settings.
- Expert-level understanding of EC&I asset performance management, maintenance best practices and reliability optimisation.
- Proven track record leading multi-discipline projects, outages or maintenance operations across production and capital work.
- Significant contract management experience with suppliers and commercial risk assessment.
- Desirable: APMP® professional qualification or equivalent project leadership documented evidence.
- Desirable: NEBOSH Certificate or equal health & safety foundation level.
Personal Skills
- Proactively solve challenges with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to juggle competing responsibilities effectively.
- Approaches, and communicates complex technical issues clearly to non-specialist [stakeholders].

Salary & Benefits
