Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Energy company in the UK to recruit an Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Technician to join its CCGT site in Rochester, Kent.

The EC&I Technician role comes with a starting salary of up to £50,000 + £2,100 SE allowance and very competitive benefit package including 20% bonus, medical insurance and 10% pension contributions.

Responsibilities and duties of the EC&I Technician role

Reporting To The EC&I Team Leader You Will

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance activities on electrical, control and instrumentation systems across the plant.
  • Support the safe and reliable operation of the station through effective fault finding, diagnostics, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
  • Prepare risk assessments, method statements, and maintenance documentation for EC&I activities.
  • Manage and supervise contractors undertaking maintenance and outage-related works.
  • Support the implementation of company safety rules as an Authorised Person or Competent Person, where appropriate.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of plant outages, inspections, and major maintenance activities.
  • Develop technical specifications and support procurement activities for EC&I equipment and services.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, contractors, and site personnel to ensure maintenance objectives are achieved.

Professional Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Educated to HNC level or equivalent in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience maintaining EC&I systems within a CCGT power station or large-scale industrial process environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electrical, control, and instrumentation equipment.
  • Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation relevant to industrial maintenance activities.
  • Computer literate with experience using maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Controls & Instrumentation-biased engineer with experience maintaining and fault-finding on industrial plant systems.
