Electrical Craft Team Member (Shifts)
Business: Tata Steel Tubes (Hartlepool, TS25)
Salary:
- £45,345 basic (inclusive of shift allowance) rising to £49,807 (inclusive of shift allowance) upon demonstrating site-specific competencies
- Quarterly bonus

Tata Steel UK believes our strength lies not just in our steel, but in the diversity and expertise of our workforce. Here, we’re seeking an ambitious Electrical Craft Team Member to join our Engineering team at our 20” Pipe Mill in Hartlepool.
This is a hands-on role for someone passionate about reliable, high-quality electrical maintenance in an innovative industrial environment. Your skills will ensure operational fault-free electrical systems, maximising productivity in our world-leading pipe manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities
As a first-line Electrical Craft Team Member, reporting to the Shift Engineer, you’ll be a valued member of a small multi-disciplined team with core tasks including:
- Technical assurance & maintenance:
- Provide first-line expertise assisting the team with both preventative & reactive maintenance
- Continuously uphold Health, Safety, & Environmental standards, enforcing safe work procedures

Fault diagnosis & resolution:
- Quickly identify faults and rapidly rectify issues to minimise plant downtime
- Provide technical guidance to support daily operations, ensuring reliability

Process improvement & innovation:
- Collaborate with peers to propose & implement enhancements to existing control systems
- Ensure any electrical system issues addressed are robust and long-term problem-free

Work pattern:
- Shift-based operation: 2 days / 2 nights / 4 days off
- Tweleve-hour rotating shifts (Day and Night)
Key Requirements
We’re looking for:

Qualification & experience:
- Completed an Electrical Apprenticeship or possessed a recognized electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ level 2 or 3).
- Prefer candidates with experience in heavy engineering manufacturing, ideally within steel/process industries.
- Excellent communication skills & problem-solving ability to collaborate in a team setting.

Technical competencies:
- Proficiency in industrial & domestic wiring concepts.
- Familiarity with overhead crane operational safety systems.
- Hands-on experience with Protocol Logic Controllers (PLCs), preferably familiar with:
- Siemens Siemens Allen-Bradley logic & control systems
- Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
- Knowledge of AC & DC motor/gearbox driving systems (including motor types, speed deviations, and integration techniques).
- Expertise with variable speed drives (inverters/ converters) including diagnostic feedback systems.
- Ability to interpret & execute electrical P&IDs, ensuring accurate implementation.
- Awareness of Safety Integrated Systems and associated standards.
