Electrical Design Engineer

Electrical Design Engineer – Pioneer Smarter Water Solutions

About the Role

You’ll play a pivotal role in developing robust electrical designs for pump systems—collaborating across disciplines to deliver safety-critical components that support Grundfos’s world-leading mission. Join a supportive, inclusive company that respects the talents of all backgrounds.


Responsibilities

As part of Grundfos’s Electrical Engineering team, you’ll:

  • Design and develop reliable electrical systems for:
    • Pump control units
    • Pump systems
    • Safety-critical components
  • Create schematics & wiring layouts, ensuring compliance with IEC, UL, and CE standards.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, and product engineers to integrate electrical components seamlessly.
  • Perform technical calculations, component selection, and simulate system performance to validate compliance & functionality.
  • Prepare & maintain critical deliverables:
    • Bill of Materials (BOMs)
    • Design specifications
    • Test procedures & regulatory documentation
  • Support prototype builds, failure analysis, and root-cause troubleshooting to drive continuous improvement.
  • Upskill legacy designs, enhancing cost efficiency and future-proofing manufacturability.

Requirements

We’re seeking a curious, results-driven engineer with:

Core Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or related field) with strong foundational knowledge.
  • 3+ years designing control systems (panels, electrical equipment, or automation), including:
    • Practical experience validating closure-to-fluid interfaces and system safety.
  • Proficiency in electrical CAD tools, with hands-on experience in EPLAN or equivalent.
  • Working understanding of electrical safety standards (e.g., BS7671 wiring regulations).

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with:
    • Motor drive systems (servo/variable frequency drives, VFD).
    • Data management systems like SAP.
    • Electrical circuit simulators (e.g., PSpice, LTspice).
