Electrical Design Engineer
Working as part of our EC&I team
Working as part of our EC&I team, you'll collaborate closely with technicians, engineers, production teams and external contractors to design and implement new installations, support existing control systems and deliver capital projects. This is an opportunity to apply your specialist engineering knowledge in a complex process manufacturing environment while helping to maintain safe, efficient and reliable operations.
Some of your key responsibilities:
- Design electrical and instrumentation installations, including hazardous area (ATEX) applications.
- Manage and deliver small capital projects from design through to commissioning.
- Provide technical support and guidance on plant electrical and control system issues.
- Maintain and develop site control systems, PLCs, SCADA and associated documentation.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety, engineering standards and relevant legislation.
What we're looking for:
- HNC in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent Level 4 qualification).
- Experience working within a process manufacturing or industrial plant environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation design, including hazardous area installations.
- Experience with PLCs, SCADA/HMI systems and electrical control systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
- Support the EC&I team during the 2 week summer shutdown (normally July/August), primarily back office technical support but may include project work depending on business needs

Desirable:
- Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- COMPEX 12 Application Design Engineer qualification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience managing engineering contractors and delivering capital projects.
- Knowledge of BS EN 60079 and IEC 61511 standards.
- Experience with Rockwell, Siemens and Schneider PLC platforms.
