Electrical Designer (AutoCAD Electrical) – Inside IR35 Contract
Fusion Technology Sector
Are you an experienced Electrical Designer with strong AutoCAD Electrical expertise? We're looking for a contractor to join a highly skilled engineering team delivering innovative projects within the fusion technology sector.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge electrical systems supporting advanced scientific equipment and industrial installations. You'll play a key role in producing high-quality electrical designs and technical documentation, working on projects ranging from electrical control panels and assemblies through to complex machinery and power distribution systems.
This is an Inside IR35 contract position, ideal for an experienced Electrical Designer who can quickly integrate into an established engineering team and make an immediate impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce electrical schematics and design documentation using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Create complete technical documentation packages, including Bills of Materials, load schedules, cable schedules, terminal schedules, OEM manuals and supporting datasheets.
- Develop and maintain electrical drawings to company standards and international regulations.
- Produce a range of design documentation including:
- Single-line diagrams
- Wiring diagrams
- Control panel layouts
- Building layouts showing cable management and power distribution arrangements
- Modify existing electrical designs in accordance with controlled change management processes.
- Reverse engineer existing electrical systems to produce accurate drawing packages.
- Support the documentation of both existing installations and new engineering projects.
- Assist with the integration of OEM equipment using manuals, I/O schedules and technical specifications.
- Produce supporting documentation including device lists, electrical load schedules and distribution board schedules.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure project requirements are delivered successfully.
- Participate in technical design reviews and support the specification of electrical and control system components.
- Provide hands-on support during equipment assembly, testing, commissioning and fault-finding activities when required.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience using AutoCAD Electrical to produce professional electrical schematics and technical documentation (essential).
- HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Ability to create and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles.
- Experience using electrical test and measurement equipment to support fault finding and commissioning.
- Comfortable working in a practical engineering environment and collaborating with technicians and engineers.

Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of electrical design standards including BS 7671, IEC 60204 and IEC 61439.
- Awareness of functional safety standards including ISO 13849 and IEC 61508.
- Experience working within ISO 9001 quality environments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications including Teams, Planner and OneDrive.
- Exposure to Microsoft Power Platform tools such as Power Automate and Power BI.
