Perth, Scotland | Permanent | Full-Time | Hybrid

Remuneration for this role is benchmarked competitively within our sector.

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you'll support the planning, design and delivery of electrical engineering works for multidisciplinary construction and renewable energy projects. Working closely with the Design Manager, project teams, contractors and clients, you'll help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

What You'll Do

  • Produce electrical designs for utility and renewable energy projects, including substations and cabling schemes up to 33kV.
  • Support the development of engineering solutions that meet client specifications, budgets and programme requirements.
  • Prepare and review technical drawings, calculations and design documentation.
  • Collaborate with project teams, contractors and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations and best practices.
  • Identify and resolve engineering and design challenges efficiently.
  • Contribute to safe design practices and fulfil responsibilities under CDM regulations.
  • Support project delivery by providing technical expertise during planning and construction phases.

What You'll Bring

Essential

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • 3–5 years' design experience within substations, electrical distribution or cabling projects.
  • Experience working within electrical utilities, Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) or renewable energy sectors.
  • Knowledge of substation and/or cable design projects up to 33kV.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, industry standards and regulations.
  • Awareness of the Designer's role under CDM regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work to agreed deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience working on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
  • Exposure to renewable energy developments and grid connection projects.
  • Knowledge of project delivery and project management principles.
  • Ambition to develop into senior design engineering or project management roles.
