Electrical Design Engineer

Reports to: Electrical Design Lead

Position: Permanent - Fulltime Onsite based in our Droitwich Site

Join Armstrong Fluid Technology, a global leader in fluid-flow innovation with over 1,400 colleagues across eight manufacturing facilities worldwide. At Armstrong, we don’t just design and manufacture products. We engineer solutions that make a lasting difference for our customers and the planet.

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of electrical systems within Armstrong’s modular HVAC, packaged plant room, and capital equipment solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing compliant, safe, and cost-effective electrical designs that align with customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality procedures.

This is a technically focused role requiring hands-on design capability, strong collaboration with mechanical and manufacturing teams, and a detailed understanding of electrical standards and regulations.

Job Accountability

Electrical System Design & Development

  • Undertake electrical designs in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP EBD-PP-001).
  • Carry out design feasibility studies including assessment of supply characteristics, load balance, earthing, and cable sizing.
  • Produce accurate load schedules, cable calculations, and protective device coordination studies using Trimble Pro Design or equivalent software.
  • Prepare detailed design deliverables including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), block cable diagrams, switchboard layouts, and earthing/bonding schematics.

Compliance & Technical Assurance

  • Ensure all designs meet applicable standards, including BS 7671, IEC 60204-1, EN 60364-1, and relevant EU/UK directives (Machinery, Low Voltage, EMC).
  • Conduct and document peer reviews to verify compliance, buildability, and maintainability of electrical designs.
  • Integrate safety considerations such as isolation, lock-off, and access provisions within the design.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Liaise with Mechanical, Controls, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to ensure system integration and production readiness.
  • Support procurement and production teams through design clarification, technical queries, and design change coordination.
  • Participate in design review meetings and ensure timely delivery of electrical documentation to meet project schedules.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
