The Role
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering safe, compliant, and efficient electrical infrastructure across a highly regulated naval base environment. Acting as a Technical Authority, you’ll:
- Influence design decisions,
- Assure compliance,
- Support projects ranging from small in-house upgrades to large-scale infrastructure developments.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Designing electrical systems and producing technical solutions aligned to regulatory and safety standards
- Reviewing and assuring internal and external electrical designs for quality and compliance
- Acting as Technical Authority for electrical services across infrastructure projects
- Surveying and inspecting assets, applying defence estate standards and identifying improvements
- Collaborating with internal teams, customers, and external contractors to deliver engineering solutions

Hours: Full time, 36 hours per week, based at HM Naval Base Clyde Hybrid working available
Essential Experience & Qualifications
Experience
- Demonstrated proven experience in electrical design engineering within commercial or industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure
- Understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements, including hazardous area considerations
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and carry out electrical calculations
- Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders across engineering and project teams
Qualifications
- Recognised apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualification
- (Desirable) City & Guilds Design and Verification
- (Desirable) City & Guilds Inspection and Testing
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who can achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
