Marine Electrical Design Engineer

Permanent | Havant, Hampshire | *UK-based applications only, No Sponsorship

The opportunity:

We're working with a well-established Marine R&D/Manufacturing company in Hampshire who are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join the team. We're looking for someone with demonstrable electrical design experience and strong fault-finding skills, ideally from a Marine background.

You will have:

  • Degree or Master's in Electrical Engineering (or related field)
  • Minimum 3 years in a similar role within the marine electronics industry
  • Electrical circuit design - AC/DC
  • Can create and interpret schematics, technical drawings, control panel and circuit diagrams
  • In-depth knowledge of marine electrical standards
  • Strong fault-finding - logical, methodical approach
  • Experience with electric motors, switching circuits, and motor controllers
  • EPLAN and AutoCAD for design/documentation
  • Good understanding of control system principles
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and ability to self-manage workload
  • Willing to travel for on-site commissioning

  • Marine CANbus systems - NMEA2000 and ruggedised sensors
  • Appreciation of PLC programming, particularly Siemens
  • CodeSys 3.5 experience
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems
  • Understanding of marine product certification requirements
  • SIL Levels and design risk assessments
  • Practical marine experience (personal boating or professional)
