Electrical Design Engineer

Electrical Design Engineer - £45k-£55k - Cambridge

My client, a leading manufacturer in industrial printing technology, is looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to support the development of advanced, high-performance systems.

About the Role

This role focuses on designing, testing, and implementing electrical components within complex industrial machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems including control panels, power distribution, and communication interfaces
  • Produce schematics and wiring diagrams using CAD software
  • Select and specify electrical components (sensors, relays, power supplies, etc.)
  • Support system integration, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards (CE, UL, IEC)
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and production teams
  • Support production builds and continuous product improvement

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience in electrical design

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g. Auto CAD)
  • Strong knowledge of power systems, motor control, and PLC integration
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols
  • Experience working to relevant safety and quality standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects
