About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Electrical Engineer to join our Mission Critical team. The successful candidate will lead and support the design and delivery of complex electrical engineering solutions for facilities including data centres, ISO-classified cleanrooms, pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, semiconductor facilities, laboratories, and other mission critical environments. This role requires an engineer with a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams throughout all stages of project delivery, from concept design through construction and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical building services systems for mission critical and technically complex facilities.
- Produce concept, schematic, detailed and construction-stage electrical designs.
- Develop electrical load assessments, fault level studies, protection coordination studies and system resilience strategies.
- Design and specify:
- HV and LV power distribution systems
- Standby generation systems
- UPS systems and battery energy storage
- Critical power distribution
- Earthing and lightning protection systems
- Internal and external lighting systems
- Small power installations
- Fire alarm systems
- Security, access control and CCTV systems
- Structured cabling infrastructure
- Develop single line diagrams, electrical schematics, calculations and technical specifications.
- Coordinate electrical services with mechanical, structural and architectural disciplines using BIM methodologies.
- Participate in design reviews, technical workshops and client meetings.
- Carry out site inspections, witness testing and commissioning activities.
- Review contractor submittals, RFIs and technical queries.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant UK, European and international standards.
- Support project planning, budgeting and programme delivery.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development within the team.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry best practice within mission critical facilities.

Essential Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- Bachelor's Degree (BEng/BSc) in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline (minimum requirement).
- Progress towards or achievement of Chartered Engineer (CEng) status through the IET or Engineering Council is desirable.
Essential Experience
Candidates should demonstrate experience in several of the following sectors:
- Data centres
- ISO 14644 classified cleanrooms
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Semiconductor facilities
- Advanced manufacturing
- Healthcare
- Laboratories
- Mission critical infrastructure
- Industrial facilities
Experience should include:
- Critical power systems
- High-availability electrical infrastructure
- Redundant electrical distribution architectures (N, N+1, 2N, 2N+1)
- Generator and UPS design
- Electrical coordination studies
- Power quality considerations
- Commissioning support
- Multidisciplinary project delivery

A strong understanding of:
- BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)
- IEC standards
- CIBSE Guides
- Building Regulations
- HTM guidance (where applicable)
- ISO 14644 (Cleanrooms)
- TIA-942 (desirable)
- Uptime Institute Tier classifications (desirable)
- Energy efficiency and sustainability principles
- Electrical resilience and reliability engineering
- Arc flash awareness
- Selective protection coordination
- Power monitoring systems
- BIM Level 2 / ISO 19650 workflows
Software Experience
Experience using several of the following:
- AutoCAD
- Revit MEP
- Trimble Amtech / ProDesign
- ETAP
- Dialux or Relux
- Bluebeam Revu
- Microsoft Office Suite

- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership.
- Experience delivering projects within live operational facilities.
- Familiarity with sustainability frameworks including BREEAM and LEED.
- Knowledge of renewable energy integration and battery energy storage systems.
- Experience with digital engineering and BIM coordination.
