Senior Building Services Engineer – Electrical (MEP) – WSP

About the Role

Meeting the requirements of an Engineer grade, you must demonstrate a proven track record in both supporting the delivery of projects within your discipline and for the overall project team. Showcase where your contributions have directly contributed to winning or successfully delivering commissions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating autonomously on technical aspects of your discipline with minimal supervision or possessing specialist experience relevant to the role
  • Interpret client direction to align with project-wide delivery goals
  • Work as part of the Building Services Team, providing design and technical advice in Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) projects
  • Contribute to the completion of detailed designs
  • Assess project feasibility within your discipline and help drive early-stage project strategies
  • Support the drafting of detailed performance specifications for your discipline (subject to peer review)
  • Work across our Brighton, Southampton, Heathrow, Basingstoke, and Guildford sites daily, with flexibility to alternate locations as needed

Reporting Structure: You will report to a Principal or Associate Electrical Engineer and collaborate with a diverse team including:

  • Graduate, Assistant, Senior, and Principal Engineers
  • Specialists in BIM and Sustainability

What We’re Looking For

Core Requirements

  • Degree: Building Services Engineering or a related discipline OR equivalent experience.
  • Professional Development: Pursuing Chartership (Engineering Council).
  • Professional Accreditation: Progressing towards IET Engineer or Chartered Building Services Engineer.

Technical Skills & Experience

Core Competencies:

  • Deep knowledge of regulations applicable to electrical engineering, with evidence of effective application.
  • Proficient in up-to-date electrical design software, including RevitMEP or similar 3D tools.
  • Ability to sketch effectively and communicate technical details visually.
  • Skills to engage with clients and contractors in complex technical discussions.

Critical Security Clearance: Your role requires ability to obtain a UK vetting-level security check.

Electrical Design Specialisms:

  • Low voltage distribution systems
  • Low voltage standby generation
  • UPS systems
  • Cable calculations (software and manual techniques)
  • Lighting calculations (software and manual techniques)
  • Small power applications
  • Fire alarms, intruder detection
  • Access control & security systems
  • Disabled call systems
  • Data cabling & network outlets
  • Lightning protection
