Electrical Networks Design Engineer
Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations: [Perth, Glasgow, Dundee or Aberdeen]
Salary: £57,150 - £68,295 per annum + a flexible range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing, and family.
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available
About the Role
As an Electrical Networks Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical development of capital and connections projects across the distribution network, progressing schemes from initial feasibility through to approval for construction, in line with engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities

Produce line route drawings, stage-by-stage plans, plant and equipment specifications and support contractor tendering and evaluation.

Liaise with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to secure land rights, ensuring projects are delivered compliantly, cost-effectively, and to a high technical standard.

Plan, manage, monitor, and coordinate health, safety, and environmental requirements during the pre-construction phase.

Develop designs for:
- Undergound cable projects
- Overhead line projects
- Substation projects
(up to 33kV), supporting:
- Network refurbishment
- Reinforcement
- Automation
- Plant replacement programmes

Requirements

An HNC level qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.

Previous experience in the design and construction of electrical distribution networks (up to 33kV).

Knowledge of applying the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 to technically complex projects.

Strong negotiation, influencing, and communication skills with the ability to convey your position in a clear and concise manner.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office along with electrical network modelling software and knowledge of NRSWA (National Register of Safe Contractors) code of practice would be advantageous.

Ability to build lasting relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, requiring:
- First-class communication skills
- Strong organisational skills

Valid driving licence (essential, as provision of a vehicle for work-related travel is a role requirement).
