Electrical Engineer – Projects Team (Alfa Laval UK&I)
Locations: Keele or Camberley, UK

About The Role
We’re seeking an experienced Electrical/Automation Engineer to contribute to our Projects Team. In this role, you’ll design automation and electrical systems, deliver standard and bespoke warranty solutions (primarily for wastewater treatment), and oversee bids, procurement, testing, and technical support across the entire project lifecycle.
Key Geographies: UK & Ireland (travel required for site/supplier activities).
Key Responsibilities
- Multitasking Project Execution: Manage electrical components of mid-to-large-scale projects (construction, budgets, and timelines), coordinating with Project Managers.
- System Design & Procurement:
- Specify/procure control panels, instrumentaluits, motors, VFD, flow/pressure sensors.
- Supervise subcontractors for site installations.
- Technical & Standardisation:
- Create/review wiring diagrams, guidance methods, safety-data sheets, HMIs, and control panel philosophies.
- Draft technical documentation: O&M manuals, FAT reports, equipment schedules (where needed).
- Sales & Proposals Collaboration: Support pre-sales by building technical specifications and back-engineering customer requests.
- Cost Optimisation & Problem-Solving:
- Optimise procurement of electrical components while maintaining engineering specs.
- Assist with start-up, commissioning, and remotely troubleshooting equipment.
- Miscellaneous: Perform any tasks as required by project deliveries.

Who You Are
- Experience: At least 3+ years in electrical engineering design and commissioning; familiarity with automation preferred.
- Technical Acumen: Clear grasp of:
- Electrical schematics/engineering fundamentals;
- Automation (magnetic contactors, relays, relays).
- Critical: UK standards (e.g., HS(W)ME, ISG-71) and ATEX/DSEAR regulations.
- Product Knowledge: Experience with:
- Industrial drives, pumps, sensors, control valves;
- PLC/HMI/SCADA systems (preferably Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or B&R).
- ąż posesiónions: Alpha Laval’s specific equipment (e.g., decanter centrifuges, drum/thickener belt systems) desirable but not mandatory.
- Soft Skills:
- Autonomous, agile, and customer-focused—prioritising across projects for multiple stakeholders.
- Proficient communication (lead/delegate technical queries to/from customers, suppliers, and team).
- Strong organisational skills, proactively driving projects to completion.
- Comfortable working with clear targets around budgets/time/quality.
- Willingness to travel regularly across the UK/Ireland for meetings/sites.

Education & Qualifications
- Minimum: HNC/HND in Electrical/Automation Engineering (degree preferred).
- Applicable certifications a plus (e.g., ATEX/DSEAR).
