Electrical Engineer – Projects Team

About the Role
We are looking for an Electrical/Automation Engineer to join our Projects Team based in Keele or Camberley, UK. As an Electrical/Automation Engineer, you will focus on:
- Electrical-automation system design for standard and customer-specific solutions, predominantly in wastewater treatment.
- End-to-end project lifecycle support, including bid/quotation, engineering, procurement, testing, and technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Handling the electrical portion of mid-to-large size projects across various engineering disciplines, ensuring compliance with time, specifications, and budget.
- Specification and procurement of control panels, instrumentation, and components, including supplier management.
- Subcontractor management for electrical installations.
- Factory acceptance tests (FAT) of control panels and equipment at supplier premises across the UK.
- Producing technical documentation, such as control philosophy, equipment schedules, and operations & maintenance (O&M) manuals.
- Supporting proposal and sales work in collaboration with the sales team.
- Optimising costs through design and procurement efficiency, working closely with the project team.
- Assisting with commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting, and remote technical support where possible.
- Executing other electrical engineering tasks necessary to meet project and department goals.

Who Are You?
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Electrical Engineer with the following attributes:
- Self-reliant, autonomous, and agile – Ability to prioritise, initiate, and complete multiple tasks across priorities from multiple stakeholders.
- Customer-focused mindset – Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to network internally and fulfil customer queries effectively.
- Commercial awareness – Experience working within a projects environment, with the ability to provide clear updates to stakeholders and management.
- Highly organised and structured – Ability to take initiative and drive projects to completion.
- Willingness to travel – Availability to visit UK and Ireland sites for short durations.
Experience & Knowledge
- Qualifications: HNC/HND or Degree in electrical engineering (degree preferred if possible).
- Technical Proficiency:
- Strong understanding of UK standards, WIMES specifications, and knowledge of ATEX / DSEAR regulations is beneficial.
- Experience with motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), pumps, flow meters, sensors, and control valves.
- Knowledge of PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, particularly experience with Siemens, Allen Bradley, and B&R, and various communication protocols.
- Familiarity with Alfa Laval products (especially decanter centrifuges, drum thickeners, and belt thickeners) would be advantageous.
