Location: Scotland ( Hybrid work option )
About the Role
Our Water Team in the UK and Ireland operates with 600+ experts, driving innovation in sustainable water systems across generations. Our recent success? Securing the role as Preferred Bidder for Scottish Water’s SR27 Enterprise, a £multi-billion, large-scale programme reshaping Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure from 2027–2033.
AECOM is at the heart of this transformative collaborative delivery model, shaping design excellence and pioneering net-zero outcomes—equally vital as water resilience. This is mission-critical, high-impact work, offering unmatched growth for communities.
As an Electrical Engineer in AECOM’s Water Team, you’ll support this programme in Scotland, blending expertise with a hybrid work model—balancing office work with a few remote days.
Key Responsibilities (What You’ll Do)
- Core Tasks:
- Lead feasibility studies, outline designs, detailed designs, and construction support for electrical components.
- Design and review electrical and instrumentation & control systems (ICA) for:
- Wastewater & water infrastructure projects.
- Processes like chemical dosing, pumping stations, and sludge treatment units.
- Produce and review technical documentation (calculations, drawings, reports) per industry and AECOM standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (civil, electrical, process, and mechanical engineers) across the UK.
- Conduct on-site surveys, liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
- Participate in key design review sessions, such as:
- HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study).
- HAZID (Hazard Identification).
- SWIFTS (Statistical Safety Indicators and Hazards Analysis).

Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
- Progressing towards Chartered Engineer status (e.g., IET).
- Proven ability to deliver:
- Engineering designs, reports, technical specs, drawings, and calculations with precision.
- Innovative solutions for water/wastewater engineering.
